ABOUT SOPHI

Sophi Odling has spend the past 9 years working successfully in the fashion scene, with years of senior business management with various distinguished and iconic brands such as HUSSY, where she developed her business skills to an international level.

Prior to her university years, Sophi had never lifted a paintbrush to a canvas. Throughout her previous art education she had thrived through hands-on art forms. Photography, ceramics, jewellery, and sculpture were her main passions. Sophi graduated from the prestigious College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales in 2004, with a major in jewellery design and painting.

A modern Sydney based designer/artist with works and products sold and exhibited worldwide, her background and enthusiasm lies in all art forms. The main forms that stick through her work today are that of jewellery, painting and sculpture.

Sophi has always been known for her flair of fashion. With so many years of working in the industry, styling Australian celebrities and giving inspiration to her customers, her focus began to alter at once. Sophi honed her skills and passion into designing.

The label Sophi Odling was born in Tokyo, the famous city renowned for its eccentric flair and forerunning design. Japan has fascinated Sophi since a young age and she recently spent 2 years living in the heart of Tokyo. The label is the epitome of Sophi : creative and passionate.

The Sophi Odling inspiration comes through Sophi's frequent globetrotting. Materials are resourced from various parts of the world. She derives her influences from cultural fascinators, the unique view produced through a lens, and impressive street fashion resulting in many one off pieces which are quick to go. The inspiration for the first collection was derived from all over Japan

Sophi uses various materials for her collections from baby soft leathers, to found objects that give the unique twist to her jewellery. Her true boldness lies in her use of colours and eclectic designs.

The Sophi Odling philosophy is to celebrate strong women who are confident in their style; for those who are keen to experiment or to have little pieces of exuberance to wear. Her collections are drawn from her passion for the things that SHE loves. For those who want to be noticed with style. This is exactly what the label and collection does.

The charities that Sophi Odling regularly donates to and supports are : Mission Australia in Sydney and the OrangOrang project in Bali, which help homeless children to rebuild their lives through rehabilitation, education and work. She continues to support such causes, and hopes to help create more awareness.

As a fast upcoming designer, Sophi continues to move her living base around the world, leaving Tokyo to new adventures ahead. Her perfectionism and business expertise combined is what has driven her to where she is today.
